ADAPT is a randomized, multicenter trial designed to test the efficacy of a non-selective nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug and a selective COX-2 inhibitor for the prevention of Alzheimer's disease and attenuation of age related cognitive decline. The treatment regimen are: naproxen sodium, celecoxib and matching placebos. The trial enrolled 2,528 dementia-free participants who are age 70 or older and had or have a first degree relative with Alzheimer-like dementia. Participants will be assessed periodically for any decline in memory or cognitive function and followed for approximately 7 years.
